Quotes Database Hits 80
It has been a slow growth process, but the Photography Quote Database that powers our Random Quote Widget recently hit 80 quotes!
While it is true that this is not an astronomical number of quotes, one of the goals of the database is that it contains high quality quotes that are meaningful to and about photography. Another of the goals is to categorize these quotes for both organization as well as for future customized filtering by the Quote Widget. Thus, the current 80 quotes fall into the following photography categories:
- General: General statements about photography
- Photographer: Comments about historic photographer(s) (usually a self-made comment)
- History: References to the historical significance of photography
- Technique: Statements about photographic technique
There is a back log of different quotes waiting to go into the database. Most of these fall into new categories. Due to technical considerations, we have been waiting to enter these until we can add the filtering capability to the Quote Widget. The plan is to get to this as soon as some infrastructure work on the website gets completed.
